Let's Stop The Sale, Work Together To Get NADAS Strong, Relevant & Forward-Thinking.
RWG believe that this very valuable asset does not need to be sold to anyone.
Heritage & traditions have their place but we can all probably say that The Newbury Show has not really moved with the times, evolved with the new technologies, educated on the latest environmental and agricultural initiatives, informed about climate and nature issues or talked to new audiences very much in recent years.
Let's start to grab those changing opportunities !
The Showground itself must work harder to generate rental income under the West Berkshire Council conditions set out in the 106 planning document (11/01135/COMIND) which has not been updated by the Society since 2013 - let's work with WBC to amend it if necessary, so the Society can flourish.
The Society's Charitable aims (on HM Gov Companies House website) says that NADAS will promote Rural England life and preserve the countryside, NOT cement over it for the money. This alone would seriously damage the local reputation of the Agricultural Society!
Depending on what the Charity finances currently are, (which have not been published) we believe that with real vision, an innovative long term strategy of events and educational programmes, adding in strong financial management to the board and with the county of Berkshire's help and volunteers support - there is no reason for the current NADAS Charity board to sell off the land to be developed by a national logistics group
or sold off only to be rented back or held under restrictions.
We are stronger working together
We would like to see the Newbury & District Agricultural Society keep its freehold ownership and use the Showground asset more effectively for its future and for the communities across West Berkshire.
